3rd times the charm

Finally after three times applying for the Aorere Japanese Exchange Scholarship I was given the amazing opportunity to become one of the lucky 8 students to represent Aorere College on this cultural exchange in 2020.

When I got the final letter the first thing I said was to my sister who came with me to get the final results was “I can feel a staple” as weird as that may have been that little bump in the corner of the envelope gave me just a little hope that maybe I had made it this time. we had only just left school grounds when I opened the letter and luckily enough my sister recorded the moment where I read that I was accepted into this exchange.

Let’s just say I was giddy and speechless for the next 30 minutes, I wanted to try and keep calm when I got home and waited for both my parents to be home so I could give the good news because not only had I tried for this exchange 3 times my family supported me each time. I guess they could see right through me but when I gave them the letter they acted surprised and were just as excited about it as I was. As the rest of my family came home that they I got to relive the excitement of finding out I was accepted over and over until everyone in our household knew.

I’d just like to say thank you to my family and friends who have supported me since day one and helped me to become the person I am today, and to our amazing sponsors thank you for taking a chance on me and choosing me as 1 of the 8 ambassadors.
